The included factory letter lists this revolver with a 4 1/2 inch barrel in .38 caliber with blue finish, and grips not listed when shipped to Colt's San Francisco Agency on November 14, 1899. Another included letter from Kirt W. Keller states the "POLICE OF HAWAII" inscription on the backstrap, though not listed on the factory letter, appears to be done in the factory style by hand. Fair with traces of original finish in protected areas with a darkened patina on the balance, and scattered pitting. Grips are good with softened checkering. The hammer does not hold full cock, but does function in double action.
