Manufactured in November 1862. Approximately 14,000 Henry's were manufactured between 1860-1866, and half of them are believed to have been used by Union soldiers, mostly purchased by the men themselves, some using reenlistment bonuses. The Henry was one of the most advanced weapons of the Civil War and featured prominently after the war during the period of continued westward expansion on the American frontier. The top flat of the barrel has the two-line Henry's patent and New Haven address. Early production frame with sight dovetail, half moon front sight, and rounded buttplate heel. Sling swivel mounted during the period of use on underside of buttstock. Serial number "1007" stamped on top of the barrel at the breech, left side of lower tang, buttstock tang, and buttplate. The buttplate screws and upper tang screws are also numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Good with barrel and magazine tube having a brown-gray patina and a few patches of pitting, numerous light dings visible on the bottom of the tight fitting side plates, light abrasive marks on top, numerous scattered dents, dings and scratches on buttstock. Mechanically fine.
