Thaddeus S. Whipple (1832-1912) was a drummer in Company E of the 13th Vermont Infantry during the Civil War and was a gunmaker c. 1864-1869. "T. S. WHIPPLE/CAMBRIDGE VT" and "GAIN TWIST" marked barrel. Leman lock. The muzzle is turned round for a starter, and the rifle is equipped with a globe front sight and peep sight.

Good with gray and brown patina, oil/varnish coating, some chips in the stock, and mild overall wear. Mechanically fine.
