Bore Condition: The bore is dark and has oxidation/pitting and distinct rifling.
Description:

This antebellum era percussion rifle has a "M. DICKSON/&/J. J. GILMORE" and "LOUISVILLE KY" marked barrel. "GREG & HAYDEN/CHARLESTON So Ca" marked back action lock with scroll engraving. Per the Kentucky Historical Society Moses Dickson and James J. Gilmore were business partners in Louisville, Kentucky, are recorded in 1844 to 1859 as located at 52 3rd Street between Main and Market Streets. A rather similar rifle is part of the Kentucky Historical Society's collection and was owned by five-time Olympic medalist in shooting sports Willis Augustus Lee and had been passed down in his family.

Rating Definition:

Good with gray and brown patina, distinct markings, oxidation/pitting, crack between the breech and trigger guard finial on the right, chipped toe, some loss at the forend tip, poorly fit lock (probably an old replacement), and mild overall wear. Mechanically fine.
