Bore Condition: The bore is mostly shiny with mostly crisp rifling and light streaking.
Description:

Receiver manufactured in 1917. "S.A./flaming bomb/11-17/A" marked barrel, replacement blued straight-handle bolt marked "J5" on the underside of the safety lug, rear sight ladder with volley notch, and "H" marked bayonet lug. Fitted with a "high hump" profile walnut handguard and a "S" profile grasping groove walnut stock marked "S" in the magazine cutoff recess, with a boxed "D.A.L" inspector stamp on the left of the wrist, along with "56" and a circled "P" firing proof on the underside. Includes a World War I era M1907 leather sling with faint manufacturer's marking s and brass hooks, along with a nickel plated oiler stowed in the butt trap. Provenance: The Billy Pyle Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining some of the original finishes with thinning on the balance revealing both smooth grey and brown patinas along with scattered minor freckling, some minor patches of spotting, dried grease, and some scattered minor handling marks. The stock is very fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled with numerous scattered minor compression marks and scuffs along with clear stamps and mostly crisp grasping grooves. Mechanically excellent.
