Description:

The rifle is marked "W L HUDSON/MAKER/CIN O" on top of the barrel and has a turned down muzzle for use with a starter (absent), guide rail/lug for a "Turner" style bayonet on the right, globe front sight, notch rear sight, adjustable peep sight, and adjustable double set triggers. William L. Hudson Sr. (1812-1861) of Wales immigrated in 1837, became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. in 1848, and worked in Cincinnati, Ohio, as a gunmaker and gunsmith in the antebellum era and beginning of the Civil War.
