Description:

5,002 of these rimfire cartridge Starr carbines are reported to have been ordered by the U.S. Government and delivered between March and May of 1865, according to "Flayderman's Guide" (9th Edition, 9B-099). In addition to the U.S. inspection initials and cartouche stamps on the left stock wrist, this example has a British "broad arrow/WD" and numbers stamped on the stock.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retains much of the original finishes, with scattered freckling/oxidation, smooth brown and gray patina on the balance, and defined markings and edges in the metal. Wood is also very good with tight fitment, scattered dents and scratches, and mostly crisp stamps. Mechanically excellent.
