Bore Condition: The bore is darkened with visible rifling and frosting/pitting.
Description:

The lock is marked "1863/TOWER" at the center and St. Edward's Crown without the "VR" below is marked at the rear indicating this was a commercial arm, not one accepted by the British government. Many British companies exported rifles for use by both the Confederacy and the Union during the American Civil War. Birmingham commercial proofed breech with two "25" bore marks (indicates .577 caliber). Bottom tang marked with the initials "I.I.R." and the trigger guard is marked "CAPTURED AT/FORT FISCHER/JAN. 15TH 1865".

Rating Definition:

Fair overall with antiqued brown patina, and spotting/pitting. Stock is refinished with cracks, dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
