Bore Condition: Worn with shallow pitting through the length, fair rifling.
Description:

Per the included letter, this revolver was one of a thousand shipped to Major Wainwright of the U.S. War Department at the New York Arsenal on Governor's Island, New York on November 23rd, 1862. Punch dot decoration has been added to the metal and the grip butt, with a letter "R" on the backstrap behind the hammer, and a set of six new stop notches have been added to the cylinder between the regular stops, allowing full cylinder locking when the hammer is let down between chambers.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with a mixed brown and gray patina overall, traces of original case color in the recoil shield cutouts, mixed patina on the triggerguard, and scattered shallow pitting and handling marks. The grips are good as sanded, with some dents, scuffs, and what may be cut notches around the edge. Mechanically excellent.
