Description:

Both tunics are green, with officer shoulder boards with "five-pointed star" line emblems, bullion aviator eagles on the left breast, and brass buttons. 1) Commander's tunic, twill construction, with two chevrons on the left cuff, faint Boston merchant label inside the collar, and "LHM" stitched into the right breast lining. Consignor statements attribute "LHM" as Louis Henry Maxfield, with records showing a Naval Aviator hailing from Michigan by that name active during World War I, with postings in Rome and elsewhere. Fair, with tearing of the lining, minor stains and light wear. 2) Ensign's tunic, wool construction, with one cuff chevron and Browning King & Company merchant label. A pair of green twill trousers is also included. Fair, with the right shoulder board torn, small holes and minor stains.
