Description:

Manufactured in 1910, this is a very fine example of a second issue Colt Officer's Model revolver. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard two-line address and patent dates, while the left has the model and caliber marking. The left side of the frame has the Colt "C" and Rampant Colt marking, as well as the "VP" proof and "3" near the trigger guard. The butt has the non-factory stamping "LT,E,G,SMITH", whose identity is unconfirmed, but records of multiple lieutenant E.G. Smiths appear in both the U.S. and British armies around the period. It is fitted with an adjustable beaded blade front sight, adjustable notch rear sight, and a pair of checkered walnut grips with "EGS" initials lightly carved in the butt of the left panel.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains most of the original finish, with some areas of light thinning, primarily on edges and high spots. The recheckered/reoiled grips are very good with a few minor handling marks, mostly near the butts. Mechanically excellent.
