The grouping includes a bullion wire Air Service/Air Force shoulder patch, "GURKHA/PIPE BAND" shoulder board, a number of war correspondent identification patches, pictures of United Press VP and GM for Asia Miles W. Vaughn, a CBI Theater Correspondent Pass made out to said Miles Vaughn, a custom leather and suede "blood chit" signed to Vaughn, a Japanese armband identified by an attached note saying it was a press ID issued to Vaughn when he reported on the coronation of Emperor Hirohito, a letter to Admiral Halsey of the 3rd Fleet vouching for Vaughn as an expert on Asian affairs, a binder of photographs of Gurkha units in operation (some of which include Vaughn, and some depicting operations at an Air Depot in Bengal where officers and men are wearing patches nearly identical to the bullion one in this lot), a giant-sized leather American CBI patch, and a Gurkha flag. This flag, 46 inch tall by 68 inch wide, is identical to one shown in some of the included photos, single sided with a yellow border around a blue field, with a tiger head over a pair of crossed kukri knives and "GURKHAS" in large red letters. Provenance: The Putnam Green/Sycamore Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good to excellent overall with generally minor age and storage related wear such as some fading on the arm band.
