This lot consists of two French side by side flintlock pistols. Both lock plates are script marked "Moriscau / A Paris" under the flash pan and have a floral engraving behind the floral engraved hammers. Floral engraving is also present on the upper tang, frizzen, and trigger guard, with a large floral blossom engraved on the buttcap. Traces of a gold highlighted engraving remaining on the breech end of the barrels. The upper tang has a dished out rear sight, with a front bead sight on the solid rib, and hammer safeties. Full length stock with flared butt, multi-point checkering in the grip area, single stock wedge, and an oval initial plate behind the upper tang. Complete with a wooden ramrod with horn tip.
About good. The metal surfaces have been cleaned and are now aging again with some minor pitting (mostly on the barrels). The stock is very good with a few missing minor chips and a few minor cracks (right side of forearm), along with some minor dings and scratches. There is some minor bruising/wear in the overall crisp checkering. The once crudely repaired right hammer is separated with the top jaw included. This needs a professional to make a better repair.
As described in "A", but with an all wooden replacement ramrod.
Very good. The metal surfaces have been cleaned and are now aging again, with some minor pitting (mostly on the barrels). The stock is also good with a some scattered hairline cracks and repaired pistol grip, along with some minor handling marks. Overall the checkering is crisp.
