Description:

Founded in 1860, Pratt & Whitney got its start producing machine tools, in particular for the sewing machine industry and tooling for Civil War era gun makers. The blade is for a U.S. 1913 "Patton Model" sword made by Landers, Fray and Clark (L.F.&C.) during WW II. Pratt and Whitney made tooling for L. F. & C.; this blade appears be a tool room model. The edges are sharp and the blade has been polished but the fitting of the hilt components incomplete. The blade has a 35 1/2" double edged, with a spear point and long single stopped fullers. The tang is full length/ thickness, with notched-in segment for the cross guard, a pair of milled lightening cuts on each side, with a pair of rivet holes and a drilled and tapped screw hole in the pommel. Documents with the blade, with papers which identify this item as being from Pratt & Whitney's inventory.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The blade has some light spotting, machining lines and handling marks overall. A slight leftward cant is visible in the blade.
