This Third Model 1876 carbine was manufactured in 1879 with the dust cover rail integrally machined as part of the receiver (dust cover missing). Pinned front sight and a replacement adjustable notch rear sight on the barrel with the two line address/patent dates marking on the top. The receiver has a saddle ring stud with ring mounted on the left side. Smooth straight grip stock with a musket style full length forearm, single barrel band and a buttplate without a compartment.

Rating Definition:

About good. The carbine has a balance between a smooth and mottled brown patina with some scattered minor spotting and pitting. A patch of original blue finish remains on the barrel ahead of the rear sight with numberous long vice marks. The refinished wood is good with a long hairline crack on the buttstock, two notches near the buttplate heel, and a large dent on the forearm underside, along with a couple minor gouges and some minor dings and scratches.
