Description:

Extra long 1/3 octagon number 4 weight barrel. Marked "Stevens-Pope" "Manufactured by the J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company Chicopee Falls, Mass. USA" on the front flat. Three sets of extra mounting holes. One set over the chamber and two sets 8 inches back from the muzzle. Fitted with a false muzzle, Unertl style target blocks, wind gauge globe front sight. No rear sight seat. Mid-range tang sight. Pistol grip action with flat spring, double set triggers, and one piece spur lever. The stock is a second Model Schuetzen (Helm pattern) with a Winchester hard rubber grip cap. Standard checkered forearm with an Inletted style palm rest base with a Pope style palm rest base and door knob hand pieces. Complete with a full length hardwood case lined in purple velvet with brass corner protectors. The inside of the lid has an embroidered name label ("E R Jackson"). Included are the following: lead bullets, bullet mold, starter, pope style lubricator, duplex powder measure, breech setter, and decapper/capper. Also included are several written correspondences dated from the 1930s through the 1940s regarding the loading and handling of this rifle

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with 80% thinning blue on the barrel, 90% on the action and 50% case color on the lever and butt hook. Excellent finish on the stock and forearm. There is a professional repair to the wrist area, otherwise a few minor dings and crisp checkering. The case is good with even age crackling of the wood and minor handling marks. The lid has a few minor cracks. The lining shows some minor wear. The accessories are all good.
