Produced at the Mauser factory using a Gustloffe-Werke receiver and a stock reportedly produced by labor from the Buchenwald Concentration Camp. Hooded blade front and tangent rear sights, with "44 D9" stamped on the barrel, "bcd/ 4" on top of the receiver ring, "eagle/ 135" proofs and "Mod. 98" on the sidewall. Stamped components, with "byf" (Mauser) stamps. Smooth pistol grip stock, stamped "eagle/ 135" on the right side, "*/ C" on the underside, and a "gqm/43" marked cupped buttplate (see the book "Kriegsmodell"). With a "44 crs" (Weyersburg, Solingen) marked bayonet, 10" single fuller knife blade, ribbed plastic grips, metal sheath and leather and canvas frog.

Excellent, with 95% of the original blue finish, showing small areas of brown and gray patina, along with some light handling marks. Phosphate colors are strong on the extractor and cocking piece, with minimal wear. Stock is very good, with minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
