This is a beautiful example of an original WWII commercial Sauer model 38H post pistol that is all original and unaltered with the original Sauer factory marked shipping box. These model 38H pistols were produced through out WWII and used extensively by the German Police, Military and as a personal side arm by German officers. Although a late production commercial pistol this serial number falls right in between several know military and police marked pistol ranges. Original WWII boxes are super RARE and are very RARELY on the collector market. It is brown in color and on the top of the box it has the gold impressed picture of the 38 H pistol and in the upper left corner it is marked "SAUER" and in the lower right corner it is marked "model H". The left side of the lid has the correct and original J. P. Sauer, triangular shaped, blue and white on the end that is marked; "Selbstlade Pistole/ Mod H. Kal 7.65/ J.P. Sauer & Sohns Waffenfabrik Suhl" and in the center is written in pencil "38H- 941", the last three digits of the pistol serial number. This specific pistol is near new, and unaltered it is a mid-production model, that has the later war-time milled finish with the dull blued finish. This pistol still retains the full slide legend on the left side "J.P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL", followed by "CAL. 7.65" The right side of the frame and rear section of the slide have the correct Eagle N commercial proofmarks over the serial number (382941) and it still retains the steel trigger. As noted this pistol is complete with two original Sauer marked magazines, the original wartime J.P. Sauer instruction manual. The small cardboard storage box that fits inside the shipping box with a S&S marked cleaning cloth and small glass oil bottle inside with one dummy round.

Excellent overall with 98% plus of the original wartime finish showing just some very minor edge and high spot wear with a hint of browning on the sides of the slide. The grips are in excellent condition and so are the accessories. The box is in good condition overall with nice original color overall with a clear picture on top of the lid with the original label intact as noted. Some of the edges and corners have broken out but are still retained with the box. A professional conservator could easily repair the box which improve it dramatically. Just an excellent example of an all original and unaltered WWII J.P. Sauer pistol rig, complete with the extremely rare original box and contents. Writer can recall seeing a few of these boxed 38h Sauers!
