A) WWII U.S. Savage Model 720 Riot Shotgun

Description:

The sides of the receiver are etched with game scenes and scrollwork, with the left side marked "P / ordnance bomb" and "U.S." Single raised brass bead on the barrel, with "P/ bomb" and "* * * " (cylinder choke) marked on the left side. Smooth pistol grip stock and finger grooved forearm, with serrated buttplate. Stock is correctly not stamped with ordnance inspection marks. Savage manufactured 15,000 riot and training shotguns for the military during WWII. Savage Model 720 Riot Shotguns are the most difficult of the military semi-automatic riot guns to obtain.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The shotgun retains 95% thinning original blue finish. The right side of the receiver has a patch of minor pitting towards the rear. The wood is refinished with a repair in the grip area and some minor handling marks overall.

Description:

WWII U.S. Army contract trench shotgun, with a single bead sight on the bayonet lug adapter, 6-hole heat shield, two line gauge marking on the left side of barrel (cylinder choke, 2 3/4 inch chamber), right side of barrel has the three line address and "P / ordnance bomb, and left side of receiver marked "U.S.", along with the model marking and "P / ordnance bomb". All blue finished with smooth forearm and pistol grip stock and serrated plastic buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Refinished. There is extensive slide wear and the barrel is thinning to a gray. The refinished receiver retains traces of blue with some minor pitting. The bayonet lug adapter retains 60% purple hued blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The forearm and stock are excellent with some scattered minor handling marks.
