Cased Engraved and Inscribed English Pepperbox Pistol with Birmingham Proofs

This fine pepperbox features casehardened barrel cluster, trigger guard and hammer, niter blue trigger and sliding hammer safety and silver plated frame. The side of the frame, trigger guard and buttcap have floral scroll engraving with a feather designed border on the frame, the backstrap is engraved "Harvey EXETER" and the only visible markings are a serial number on the toe of the front strap and Birmingham proofs at the breech end of each cylinder flute. Fitted with two piece skip line checkered with silver pin accents in the diamond patterns. Complete with a wooden case with brass plaque inset in the lid, red velvet lining, bullet mold, powder flask and brass cleaning/ramrod.

ConditionVery fine. The barrel cluster and hammer retain 80% of the original case colors. The frame retains all of the silver. The trigger guard has a smooth mottled gray patina with some traces of he original case colors. The safety retains almost all of the original bright niter blue finish and the hammer shows original niter blue in protected areas with the balance having a smooth mottled gray patina. The grips are excellent with only a few minor dings and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The action is crisp. The case is very good with a few minor dings and scratches on the exterior. The lining has faded and remains very good with some contact wear and staining. The accessories are good.
