Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1888, the first year the Flattop Target revolver was introduced. Only 925 of these revolvers (in all calibers combined) were manufactured between 1888 and 1896, therefore are highly regarded and sought after by collectors. Even rarer is the fact that only 93 Flattops were chambered in the various 32 caliber. These Flattop Target revolvers predominantly fell into the serial number range of 127000 to 163000. Not only rare, these revolvers were a very attractive and well finished variation, finished in all high polished nickel finish. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." with the three line, three patent dates on the lower left side of the frame and "32 CAL" on the upper left front of the trigger guard bow. Matching serial number on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap and the loading gate is marked with the assembly number "8". Pinned blade front sight and standard dovetailed rear "U" notch target sight. Fitted with checkered Rampant Colt American Eagle relief grips. The accompanying factory letter verifies the Flattop configuration, 7 1/2 inch barrel, nickel finish, hard rubber grips, 32 caliber and that it was shipped with 4 other 32 caliber Flattops to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co., Chicago, Illinois on October 12, 1888.

Rating Definition:

Fine as period replated. The revolver retains 97% nickel finish with some wear on the muzzle and front edges of the cylinder. There is some minor pitting present under the plated finish. There is some minor spotting on the recoil shield and overall minor scratches and handling marks. The grips are very fine with a few minor dings and crisp checkering. Markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
