Casehardened receiver, with MODEL 1871" on the left side, two line Remington patent markings on this upper tang, and the eagle motif over "U.S./SPRINGFIELD 1872" on the right side. Smooth straight grip stock, with two barrel bands, script "EM" cartouche on the wrist, sling swivels and a "US" marked steel buttplate. With a 18 inch long socket bayonet.

Excellent, with a smooth, light brown cleaned patina on the steel, showing some dark spotting on the barrel and scattered handling marks. 95% vivid case color remains on the frame, silvering slightly along the edges. Stock is very good as re-oiled, with some dents and moderate dings and scratches. The bayonet shows a mixed patina with dark spotting. Mechanically excellent.
