A) Cased W.W. Greener Birmingham Mark III Signal Pistol

Description:

Produced from circa 1910 through the WWI period. British proofs on the left side of the frame with "III / W.W. GREENER BIRMINGHAM" and the right side has an elephant followed by the serial number. Single large asterisks on top of the barrel and behind the hammer. Grips are numbered to the gun. Complete with an unmarked wooden case holding 12 flares.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The brass has a smooth aged patina with a darker patina on the grip straps. The grips are fine with a minor crack near the butt and a repaired chip near the frame on the left panel and a small repaired chip on the right panel near the butt, along with a few scattered mild handling marks overall. The case is also fine with exception of a latch missing, some minor handling marks, and circular stain on the lid.

Description:

Despite Remington producing over 20,000 during WWI, Mark III signal pistols were not used in Europe, as the American Expeditionary Force adopted the French signal system which used larger 25mm guns. The top of the barrel is marked "MARK III" followed by the two line Remington address. Brass frame with blued barrel.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel retains 95% original blue finish with some streaks of gray with some minor spotting. A protective coating has been applied to the brass. The grips are very fine with some scattered minor dings, along with a series of dings on the bottom of the right panel. Mechanically excellent.

Description:

Known by collectors a the Weber Model, this Imperial German Navy signal pistol has a design similar to that of the Model 1899 and was produced around 1915 and used through WWI. Brass barrel and frame with the Stantien & Becker maker marking followed by a number ("St&B" 15") on the butt and "M.G.K." followed by a "7" stamped over "4" on the back strap.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The brass has a dark aged patina. The grips are good with a large chip missing on each panel, along with a few minor dings. Mechanically fine.
