Manufactured in 1910, this engraved gold and nickel plated Model 1908 pistol is pictured in John Brunner's book "THE COLT POCKET HAMMERLESS AUTOMATIC PISTOLS" (page 211, 1st edition). Brunner has concluded that the engraving on this pistol appears to have been done by the factory, "but it is not listed as such in the shipping book" and therefore the pistol was likely returned to the factory for engraving (writer does not agree with that statement). Most of the metal surfaces feature a scroll and punch dot engraving. Note that the slide safety and grip safety are engraved, with the engraving also on the bottom of the gold plated magazine. The engraving surrounds the boxed two line Colt address/patent date marking on the left side of the slide and "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE .25" on the right. The pistol is nickel plated with gold plated slide safety, grip safety, and trigger. Fitted with pre-medallion factory pearl grips. Complete with a non-matching factory box.

Near mint as custom embellished. The pistol retains 99% of the nickel plating with only the slightest handling marks. The trigger, slide safety, and grip safety retain 90% of the gold plating. The grips are excellent with some minor scratches. The very good box has been repaired with relined lid and bottom.
