Winchester Model 1897 16 Gauge Takedown Slide Action Shotgun with European Proofs

Manufactured in 1904. Standard two line address/patent dates barrel marking followed by "16 / FULL" at the breech. The action bar has the two line model marking followed by "16 GA". The left side of the barrel, extractor and receiver are stamped with British and German proofs. 17 groove forearm and pistol grip stock. The left side of the buttstock is stamped "1325 8 / S".

ConditionVery good. The shotgun has a smooth brown patina with some minor pitting. A series of zigzag lines have been scratched onto the left side of the barrel near the muzzle. The repaired forearm is fair with some minor cracks. The buttstock is good with a series of gashes (left side), a few hairline to minor cracks in the wrist, and a few minor gouges and dents, along with numerous minor dings and scratches. A sling swivel stud has been added to the underside of the buttstock, with a possible second stud added and then removed from the magazine barrel band.
