Made by Winchester of Canada. This is 1 of only 2 prototype Model 490's made and both are offered in this auction. Hooded ramp bead front sight and folding leaf rear sight, with the Ontario address on the left side near the breech and "MODEL 490/ JX 1" hand stamped on the receiver. Fitted with a partially jeweled bolt and a grooved rail on top of the frame. Checkered pistol grip stock, with a black plastic grip cap and Winchester checkered buttplate. Formerly from the Peter and Patty Murray Collection.

Excellent with 98% of the original blue finish, showing some light handling marks and edge wear overall. Stock is also excellent, with mild pressure dents and handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically very good.
