Exceptional WWII German G41 "duv" Semi-Automatic Rifle

This is an excellent example of a early G41rifle as produced by the Berlin-Lubecker company. These rifles were produced early on in the production cycle of the G41/G43 Series of semi-automatic rifle with an estimated total production of less than 10,000 before all production switched to the G43 series of rifles. These early G41 series of rifles used the "Bang Gas-Trap" system which employed a barrel mounted "Gas Trap" muzzle cone to trap hot gas that was bleed off when the round was fired and which cycled the action. This entire series of rifles was very short lived however it was used extensively on the Eastern Front where a semi-automatic rifles was considered essential for "long-life". Consequently, their survival rate is very low in any condition. The later series of G/K43 rifles did away with the earlier "Bang" gas trap style system and instead used a barrel mounted gas system, that was copied from the Russian Tokarev rifles, making them far more reliable and easier to produce. This rifle has the very early Type 1 receiver, bolt, bolt carrier, gas cone and early action cover and associated internal parts that were mostly all machined, and finely blued and finished. The left side of the receiver is marked; "G41 duv 43, Eagle / 214" followed by the serial number 1395a. The trigger guard and box magazine are the correct stamped wartime versions, with the stamped barrel bands and buttplate. The stock is the correct wartime laminated model that is marked on the right side with a double Eagle 214 Waffenamt proof and a single Eagle 214 Waffenamt proof in the pistol grip area. The rifle is equipped with the later production dark red/brown phenolic resin (plastic) handguard as manufactured in 1941/42 timeframe. It is complete with an unmarked WWII Leather sling, a front sight cover and cleaning rod.

ConditionExcellent overall with 98% plus of the original blue finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear on the receiver/action. Some light finish loss on the edges of the magazine box and trigger guard bow with the front gas trap assembly having taken on a slight purplish tinted finish. The stock and handguard are both in excellent original condition with nice visible proofs showing minor handling marks, scratches and light pressure dents on the sides and underside of the stock. The exposed serial numbers are all matching. An excellent example of an early WWII G41 series rifle.
