These N.R.A. muskets were made to comply with the specifications of the National Rifle Association of America. To comply for target matches of the association for "any military arm", special 24" barrels, Model 1901 Krag rear sights and special flat buttplates were fitted to the standard Model 1895. The 30 Army N.R.A. Muskets were made from 1904 to 1925 with this particular musket having been made in 1913. The left side of the receiver is marked with the standard two line address/patent dates and "NRA", the receiver ring is marked with the "WP" proof in an oval over "30 / 1906", serial number on the lower tang and "MODEL 1895 / WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK REG. IN U. S. PAT. OFF" on the upper tang. The rifle is fitted with a full forearm with finger grooves, bayonet lug on the front band, hand guard, straight grip stock, provisions for sling swivel on the front of the magazine and a sling swivel on the rear barrel band and buttstock.
Very fine with 60% of the original blue finish, showing a mixed brown and gray patina on the barrel bands and receiver, a gray patina on the barrel and scattered scratches and handling marks. Stock is also very fine, with pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
