President Abraham Lincoln Bust

Abraham Lincoln bronze bust done by John H Rogers (Am:1829-1904). The bust of Lincoln was part of the vast plaster collections of the 80 known Rogers Groups done for the Civil War. He only did 2 subjects in bronze. Abraham Lincoln & Picket's Charge. This bronze depicts a remorseful Lincoln with his brow & eyes turned downward on the tragedy of warfare & battles that were won & lost. The bronze stands 9" tall on a fitted socle marble base. Signed in the back John Rogers New York. Even though Rogers produced over 80,000 casts of his work in plaster, there are indications that both bronzes were commissioned pieces & 10 or less castings made of each subject.
