This is an example of a desirable WWII Liberator pistol. These were produced by the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors from 1942-1945. They were intended as cheap and easy to produce, substitute single shot pistols that could be dropped behind enemy lines to the French resistance, OSS and SOE forces that would enable them to kill an enemy soldier and capture his weapon. This is a Model Three, three hole variation that was made from sheet metal stampings that were spot welded together on top of the smooth bore barrel. It has the cast zinc-aluminum cocking knob, located on the rear of the pistol with the alignment pin cast into the cocking knob. This heavy cast aluminum cocking handle is rotated to the side to allow loading through a gate. The base of the grips are hollowed out to hold 10 more rounds. "AEW" has been scratched into the upper left side and "II" stamped on the lower right side.

Excellent with a few minor scratches and dings. The action is excellent.
