Manufactured in 1883 and shipped on September 1, 1884. The unmarked replacement round barrel has German silver front and semi-buckhorn rear sights and gauges at .40 caliber and the brass lifter is marked "40-60". Short magazine and Third Model type dust cover. The rifle features a deep relief floral scroll engraving on the frame, side plates, lever, and forend cap, with wedges of scrollwork at the muzzle and breech. The sides of the receiver have a buffalo in a circle, with a bear on the left side plate, a ram's head on the right side plate, and mountain goat head on the dust cover. Upper tang is marked "MODEL 1876", serial number on lower tang, and original caliber marking on the brass cartridge elevator. All blue finish with nicely figured checkered walnut replacement forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate.
Fine as custom embellished and refinished. The rifle retains most of the dark custom high polish blue finish with some minor thinning on the barrel. The wood has some minor handling marks. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically fine.
