This is a Type 99 short rifle that was specially made by the Nagoya Arsenal as a sniper rifle. The rifle is equipped with a 2.5x with a 10 degree field of view telescopic sight which is mounted to the left side of the receiver. The scope has the power and manufacturer markings over "99 No 4169 / JES [markings in Japanese]". It is numbered "5508" on back. The top of the receiver ring has a defaced royal chrysanthemum with clear "99 Type" model marking. The receiver bridge has the Nagoya Arsenal marking and the serial number. The bolt, extractor and bayonet lug are numbered to the gun. Shrouded inverted "V" front sight and ladder rear sight missing the anti-aircraft wings. Smooth stock with upper handguard, sling swivels mounted on the side (left side of buttstock, right side of rear barrel band) and cupped buttplate.
