Description:

This is an outstanding example of a late WWII style, M1A1 SMG that was produced by the Auto Ordnance Corp of West Hurley NY, using a newly made, upper receiver, that was assembled with a set of original WWII style M1A1 parts. Even though this is a commercially produced SMG, it is a very RARE model as very few were ever produced as noted by the low serial number. This is based on this describers assumption that the serial numbers probably started at 200 and as noted it has the letter "A" suffix on the end denoting that it is a fully automatic weapon. This style of SMG was probably produced when the Auto Ordnance Company produced the fully automatic combative version of the M1A1 for the American Historically Society. The left side of the receiver is roll marked, "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER 45 A.C.P./No.M250A" and the right side is marked, "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A.". The original style "Thompson Bullet" trademark is correctly rolled marked on top of the receiver in front of the rear sight and the right side, lower trigger assembly is marked, "FIRE/SAFE and below that it is marked "FULL AUTO/SINGLE". This model has the short 11 inch, unfinned barrel with no compensator on the muzzle just like the late WWII models and it is fitted with a standard blade front sight with the sheet metal fixed rear sight. It has an all parkerized metal finish, blued bolt and is fitted with a beautiful walnut, pistol grip, vertical forend and butt stock set, that has a very nice medium brown matching color. This SMG is complete with one all blued 20 round M1A1 magazine and a WWII style padded cotton/canvas carrying case. NOTE: This is a fully transferable, fully automatic NFA Class III Firearm. Prior to bidding, you check your state and/or local laws as to whether or not you may own this weapon.

Rating Definition:

Near mint with 99% of the light gray GI style parkerized finish, showing few handling marks and little use at all. The wood set; pistol grip, vertical forend and butt stock are also in like new condition with even a slight figure in the butt stock. A solid example of a very scarce, and very low production Thompson M1A1 style SMG as produced by the Auto Ordnance Company of West Hurley, NY.
