Manufactured in the first year of production, this is a very fine original example of a Colt Government Model Pistol. The slide has the standard two line, two block 1897-1913 patent dates and address on the left side, with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The right side is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE .45" and the right side of the frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" and the serial number is marked on the left front of the frame. The upper left front of the trigger guard bow is marked with the Colt triangle "VP" proofmark, with the letter "K" on the rear lower left. Smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, thumb safety, wide hammer spur and magazine release. Standard fixed sights, with early rounded rear sight, lanyard loop on the heel of the frame, unmarked two tone "key slot" magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with the diamond pattern around the screws.
