Manufactured in 1955. The left rear of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK / MADE IN U.S.A. -MODEL 70- FEATHERWEIGHT - 270 WIN- / WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL", the Winchester oval proof is marked on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech, "WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK-" on the left receiver wall and the serial number is marked on the right side of the receiver ring. The underside of the bolt is marked with the matching serial number. The floor plate is marked "-SUPER GRADE-". The top and left rear of the receiver are factory drilled and taped for scope/receiver sight mounting. Hooded ramp front sight with gold bead, original Lyman 16-B flip-up rear sight, jeweled bolt, extractor and follower, hinged floor plate and mounted with a one piece checkered pistol grip Monte Carlo stock with black forend cap, metal grip cap, checkered aluminum buttplate and quick release sling swivels. Its estimated that only about 248 Super Grade Featherweight Model 70s were produced.

Near new. The rifle retains 99% plus original blue finish with loss limited to thinning on the bolt knob. The stock is excellent plus with minor storage marks. The markings remain clear and crisp. The action is excellent. A collector will look a long time to find a high conditioned Pre-64 Model 70 Super Grade!
