Description:

According to the included letter from C.R. Reichert, both of these items were the property of his father J.R. Reichert, who joined the St. Petersburg Police Department in January of 1927, and by January of 1945 had risen through the ranks of the Department to become Chief of Police. In the 1950s, Reichert was presented with the baton, and would be presented the badge by the City in October, 1958, upon his retirement. Additional biographical information on Chief Reichert is supplied in the letter. 1) 10k gold Retirement Badge, 13/4" long with blue enamel accents, with the S.H. Reese (New York) makers mark on the back, along with the inscription "J.R. REICHERT/ 1-18-27/ 10-1-58". 2) Presentation baton, 22" overall length, with rosewood construction of the main body, and leaf carved ivory sections at the tip, grip, and ball pommel. A white cord knuckle guard is present at the grip, with a golden shield marked "J.R. REICHERT/ CHIEF/ of/ POLICE/ ST. PETERSBURG/ FLA." on the main body.

Rating Definition:

1) Excellent, with a few minor handling marks. 2) Excellent, showing some fading and scuffs of the rosewood varnish, and attractive carving and color on the ivory. An attractive set of high quality Law Enforcement presentation items. He obviously was well liked!
