Description:

Both steins have polychromatic decoration and hinged pewter lids 1) Service commemorative stein, bearing markings for an Ulm infantry regiment, dated 1909, with scenes of the unit in the field arranged around a picture of Ulm, with the script marking "Wir dienten an der Donaustrand zum Schusse fur das Vaterland/ Musketier Fleissch" (roughly "We were on the Danube beach and shot for the Fatherland / Musketeer Fleissch") around the top. A unit roster is present on the rear, with the signature "R. Kahle, Ulm a/Donau" above. The lid bears an Imperial crest, combat scenes, a small bird on the hinge and two soldiers in uniform on top. Additionally, an imprint of two men is visible on the inside of the stein. 2) Erfurt Field Howitzer Battery stein, dated 1906-1908, with a scene of the artillery riding into a city on the left with the text "Das allerstärkste Kriegesheer kann ohne uns nichts machen die Siegesgöttinlacht nicht eher als bis Haubitzen krachen" (roughly "The strongest War Army can do nothing without us, and the Goddess of Victory does not laugh louder than Howitzer's blast"), an artilleryman in the center with a "19" Regiment tab, and a scene of a man being fired out of a cannon on the right, with "Brüder Stosst die Gläser an, hoch lebe der Reservemann" (something about a Glasier's brother, long live the Reserve Man) around the rim. The bottom shows a number of small gold accented scenes. The lid is decorated with an eagle on the hings and a cannon on top.

Rating Definition:

1) Some small cracks inside the lid, otherwise fine. 2) As 1.
