Blade front and notch rear sights on slide with the two-line address and patent dates on the left side, "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45" and the Rampant Colt on the right side ahead of the ejector port. Standard markings on the right side of the frame, with "1" and "VP" on the left side of the trigger guard. Wide checkered hammer, short milled trigger, extended grip safety, checkered slide stop, thumb safety and magazine catch, and checkered arched mainspring housing with lanyard ring, and the early production two-tone magazine is unmarked.
