This is a very good example of an original WWII German sniper scope that was used on the K98 high turret sniper rifles. This scope is all original and complete with a set of the original high turret scope rings. The scope was produced by the German company Hensoldt and Sohns in Wetzlar. The left side of the scope tube is marked "DIALYTAN 4X 72417/bmj (the wartime code for the Hensoldt company) next to a blue + sign The left side of the font ring is stamped with rifle serial number "53992" with no number on the rear ring or base. The elevation knob is correctly marked 1-8 (100-800) meters and it comes with a post war set of commercial leather scope caps.

Very good overall with 60% of the original wartime blue finish remaining with the balance having turned a gray patina mixed with some minor rust and brown spots overall. The optics are still clear and the elevation knob works correctly. The leather scope caps are in very good condition. A nice original WWI sniper scope.
