This is a Third Model manufactured in 1887. Blade front and carbine folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1,000 yards and marked "1876". The only markings on the musket are "45-75/W.C.F." on top of the barrel at the breech, "45-75" on the cartridge elevator, "MODEL 1876" flanked by the foliate design, upper tang and the serial number on the lower tang. Saddle ring and stud mounted on the left rear of the receiver, blue barrel, nickel plated receiver and mounted with a full walnut forearm with one barrel band and forend cap, and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have a dark brown patina with traces of original nickel finish, mostly in the protected areas of the receiver. The buttplate has some moderate pitting. The wood is also good overall. There is a deep 1 1/4 inch scratch on the upper right side of the stock, with overall scattered minor, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is very good.
