According to a pair of Winchester/Cody Museum letters, this rifle was in the warehouse from 6 November to 1 December of 1894, chambered for 50-110 (aka 50 Express) with an octagon barrel, plain trigger and half length magazine. Dovetailed blade front sight and silver highlighted 3-leaf rear sight, with the 2-line address on the top flat and "50 EX" behind. The upper tang is marked "-Model 1886-", with the serial number and patent dates on the lower tang. Smooth straight grip stock, with the button magazine, casehardened forearm tip and a smooth curved buttplate.

Very fine, with 90% of the original blue finish, showing some bright edge wear, areas of brown patina and scattered handling marks overall. 50% plus original, vivid colors remain on the casehardened components, fading on the underside and along the edges. Stock is fine as reoiled, with some scuffing and light dings with attractive highly figured grain. Mechanically excellent.
