Description:

Manufactured between 1858 and 1862, the revolver has some features unique to Manhattan Arms, but was almost identical to Colt's Model 1849 pocket in an attempt to increase sales appeal. The frame and back strap are engraved with a floral scroll and punch dot background. Brass cone front sight and hammer notch rear sight. Octagon barrel marked "MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS/MANUF'G. CO. NEW YORK" on the top flat and matching serial number marked on the frame under the grip and on the bottom barrel flat. 5-round unfluted cylinder with 10 stops engraved with the stage coach holdup scene and underbarrel loading lever. The frame has a removable side plate. It has a smooth trigger and checkered casehardened hammer, and fitted with smooth varnished walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 30% of the original blue finish with a smooth grayish brown patina on the balance. The loading lever has a smooth mottled brownish patina and the frame has a smooth silver gray patina. The grips are excellent with nearly all of the original varnish, a few minor scattered dings, and some very minor wear on the lower edges. The engraving and markings are clear. The action is fine.
