This is an Officer's tropical pattern white linen covered cork pith helmet circa 1885. Gilt spike on an ornamented star base. Gilt helmet plate surmounted by a Victorian crown. Silver Welsh dragon in the center of the garter circle. Silver regiment banner "The South Wales Borderers" on an acanthus wreath. Khaki stained lining inside with ink stamped and hand written numbers. A leather brow band inside and a doeskin edge all around.
