Desirable World War I 1916 Dated Erfurt Model 1914 Luger Rig with Two Matching Magazines and 1916 Dated Holster

This is an example of a standard WWI 1908 German Luger pistol as manufactured by the Erfurt factory in 1916. The Erfurt Luger is a fairly scarce Luger to find as they had lower production numbers than the DWM models. The top of the chamber is marked "1916" for the year of manufacture and the front toggle is marked with the "Crown/ERFURT". The left side of the barrel extension is marked with the three "Crown/Script" Letter proofs next to an "Imperial Eagle" proof. The rear of the barrel also has a single "Crown/Script Letter" proof with an "Imperial Eagle" proof on the right side. The Luger has the standard military style numbers with the full serial number on the major parts with the various small parts all have the last two digits of the serial number along with the "crown Erfurt" acceptance proof mark. This pistol has matching serial numbers on the parts including the two magazines as noted. Both magazines are the standard WWI versions with the nickel plated body with the wood base. Each one is stamped with "4277/Crown Script letter" proof and "4277Crown proof/+" respectively. This Luger is complete with an original WWI brown leather holster marked on the front "BREHME/HILDESHEIM/1916" and is complete with an original Erfurt marked takedown tool.

ConditionVery fine as arsenal refurbished with 98% of the blue remaining showing minor spots of pitting on the barrel, frame, grip straps and trigger that has been blued over. The various small parts retain 95% of their straw colors. The grips are very good showing nice checkering on both sides, with minor handling marks, nicks and chips in some areas. The holster is very good with light wrinkling/age cracking of the leather, showing on the front of the holster with tight stitching overall and clear distinct markings. The Luger has matching numbers on all the parts to include the two magazines. The barrel extension has the second digit in the number overstruck with the number "2" which is an arsenal or factory error. Still a very nice example of a scarce WWI Erfurt produced Luger rig.
