Manufactured by Colt Firearms in the later part of 1943. The right side of the frame has the Ordnance escutcheon stamped behind the grip panel with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No. 1152389" roll-stamped in two lines behind the slide stop hole. "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" is roll stamped in front of the slide stop hole. The left side of the frame has the U.S. Army Ordnance final inspection mark "G.H.D." below the slide stop and a "P" proof mark is stamped near the magazine release button. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block, the Rampant Colt trademark and "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." in two lines. The barrel is blue and stamped "P" on the left side of the barrel lug, with the Flannery "F" stamped on the right side indicating barrel replacement at some point. The slide has a non-matching serial number "882042" stamped under the firing pin retainer. The top of the slide is stamped with a "P" proof mark ahead of the rear sight. The front and rear sights have been altered by some filing and remnants of yellow highlight paint, most of which has worn away. The gun is complete with one magazine having blue finish and stamped with an "L" on the top of the floor plate lip. The magazine base has some light solder repair on the bottom.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 75% thin, faded original finish showing scattered light scratches and wear around the edges for the slide and frame. The grips are fine showing some minor handling marks with pronounced checkering. Mechanically excellent.
