Description:

Manufactured in 1893, this revolver features Cuno Helfricht B+ coverage factory engraving on most of the barrel and frame, simple line designs on the forward cylinder flats and a shell pattern on the recoil shield, loading gate and top of the back strap. The top strap is decorated with a "signature" zigzag line and dot design, there is a wavy line and dot design bordering the barrel address and a similar design on the back strap. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, "45 COLT" in a banner on the left side and the left side of the frame is marked the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap, with the assembly number "638" on the loading gate. Standard fixed sights, all nickel finish and fitted with two-piece pearl grips with the Mexican Eagle carved on the right panel. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, nickel finish, pearl grips, factory engraving and that it was shipped as a one gun shipment to Robert Willis & Taylor Company, Sherman, Texas on June 15, 1893.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have 20% of the original nickel with the balance a smooth brownish gray and gray patina. The attractive, undersized, period replacement grips are fair with some chipping along the edges and the eagle's wings are a bit difficult to make out. The grips are also slightly undersized. The engraving and markings show some wear, however are clear. The action is fine. An attractive old west factory engraved Colt Single Action Army with impeccable documented Texas association!
