Manufactured in 1883 as a factory engraved Colt Single Action Army and subsequently restored in the 20th Century. This revolver features factory floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the barrel and lower frame sides. The ejector housing, back strap, trigger guard, cylinder and top strap are decorated with simple wavy line and dot designs, and there is a shell design on the recoil shield and loading gate. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address with a wavy line and dot bordering which extends to the front sight, the left side is marked "45 COLT", the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent dates and the upper left front of the trigger guard is marked "45 CAL". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "3211". Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, all nickel finish and fitted with pearl grips with a carved eagle shield motif on the right panel. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, nickel finish, factory engraving, grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 10 to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis, Missouri on February 10, 1883.
