The left rear of the barrel is marked with the letter "B". There are two clear oval cartouches on the left stock flat. It has a brass blade front sight and dished oval shaped rear sight on the barrel tang. The ramrod is the steel swivel type with a button shaped head. The barrel band has a strap extension which joins the side plate and the back strap is integral with the buttplate and extends up the back to the barrel tang. The lock plate, hammer and frizzen were casehardened. Blue trigger and frizzen spring, all other iron parts bright. This was the last U.S. martial pistol produced in flintlock. These pistols were standard issue during the Mexican War and continued to see extensive use during the Civil War, many converted to percussion in the 1850s. Comes with a small wooden plaque with a "1836 A. WATERS" marked brass plate.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus in original flintlock configuration. The metal surfaces have a bright appearance. The stock is very good with a minor crack on the left flat, a few minor dents and sharp flat edges. The markings and cartouches are crisp. The action is fine.
