"Eagle/US" marked ahead of the hammer on the lock, "SPRING/FIELD/1830" at the rear, the top of the barrel is marked "H&P", the tang is dated "1861", the left rear of the barrel has a recessed "P" and the flat is marked "NJ", (the marking appears to be not of period). Three leaf rear sight with an upside-down "17" stamped on the left side and mounted with a full walnut stock with an oval "E?" and "A/2" cartouche on the left flat, "13" and "20" stamped on the comb ahead of the buttplate tang and "US" on the tang.
