Civil War Era Leather Military Flap Holster and Belt

This is an example of Civil War era left hand holster for a Colt Model 1860 revolver manufactured 1863 to 1865, maker unknown. This is a typical late Civil War pattern made of black bridle leather. It has a full flap sewn to the back and riveted to the belt loop. The loop is sewn and riveted to the back of the holster. There is a strap sewn and riveted to the inside of the flap with a single button hole for securing the flap. Comes with a black leather belt with a brass eagle, star and olive branch motif, with an "E PLURIBUS UNUM" banner in the eagles mouth.

ConditionGood. The holster shows overall moderate to heavy age and flex cracking and some flaking of the leather. A majority of the rear edge has been period re-sewn and it remains tight. The belt is good. A number of holes have been period added and several have enlarged over the years. The buckle has an aged patina. A solid example of a late pattern Civil War holster and belt.
